Sean D. McKee

Leadership from the front lines now

With more than two decades of progressively expanding leadership experience across private sector and mission-driven organizations, Sean McKee brings an enterprise perspective shaped by direct accountability for the whole organization—not simply one function within it.

His career has progressed from frontline operations through accounting and financial leadership to serving as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Acting Chief Executive Officer & President. Along the way, his responsibilities expanded across finance, operations, organizational revenue, people and culture, technology, infrastructure, strategy, governance, and external partnerships.

Sean's leadership has often been called upon when organizations are changing—during periods of financial uncertainty, executive transition, revenue transformation, organizational growth, technology modernization, and cultural change. His experience also extends beyond the boundaries of a single organization, including building strategic partnerships and leading collaborative initiatives among organizations with different—and sometimes competing—interests.

That experience shapes how Sean approaches executive advising today: see the whole organization, understand how the pieces connect, make sound decisions, and build the systems, partnerships, and organizational capacity required to carry those decisions forward.

A Proven Record of Scalable Leadership Growth

A Career Built on Increasing Responsibility

Throughout his career, Sean has repeatedly been entrusted with broader responsibility—often extending well beyond the role he was originally hired to perform.

Beginning in frontline operations at  StarTek Inc, Sean advanced through successive leadership roles, ultimately leading organizations of up to 160 employees across multiple business lines and major telecommunications clients. The experience established an early pattern in his career: learning complex organizations quickly, leading across competing priorities, and taking responsibility for increasingly larger areas of the enterprise.

His transition into finance followed a similar progression. At KRCC and Colorado Public Radio, Sean advanced from accounting responsibilities into accounting management and ultimately Acting Controller responsibilities, building financial leadership experience on top of an established operational foundation.

Recruited to KUNC | The Colorado Sound as Chief Financial Officer, Sean began assuming significant operational responsibility within weeks of joining the organization. He subsequently served concurrently as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. After the finance function was restructured and outsourced, Sean transitioned to dedicated Chief Operating Officer leadership, with his responsibilities continuing to expand across organizational revenue, people and culture, technology, infrastructure, strategy, and governance.

Sean was later selected to serve as Acting Chief Executive Officer & President while continuing his COO responsibilities and leading the development function during one of the organization's most consequential periods—federal funding uncertainty, revenue transformation, strategic planning, and organizational change.

That progression shapes the Ten-8 approach today: see the whole organization, understand how the pieces connect, take responsibility for the decisions, and build the systems and capacity required to execute them.

Advanced Cross-Functional Mastery

Built for the whole organization.

After a career of being entrusted with increasingly complex challenges, Sean founded Ten-8 Executive Advising around a lesson reinforced throughout his leadership experience: organizational challenges rarely exist in isolation.

A revenue problem may also be a strategy problem. A people challenge may expose an operating-model issue. Growth may require different systems, technology, talent, or capital. And even the right strategy accomplishes little without the organizational capacity to execute it.

Ten-8 was built around that reality.

Executive Advising brings experienced enterprise leadership alongside executives and boards to see the whole organization, understand how the pieces connect, make sound decisions, and turn those decisions into action.

The objective is not simply to recommend change, but to help leaders build the systems, partnerships, and organizational capacity that allow improvement to endure.

And Ten-8 extends beyond Executive Advising. The broader Ten-8 brand brings together complementary expertise and capabilities designed to support organizations across the challenges of change, improvement, and growth—from understanding what needs to happen through helping make it possible.

One organization. Connected expertise. Built to help organizations become stronger.
